Valentine Wightman is a man who knew what the words "Baptist Heritage" meant. His Great, Great Grandfather,Edward Wightman was the last English Baptist burned at the stake. His wife's grandfather, Obadiah Holmes was beat almost to death on the Boston Square. She was also the Great Grandaughter of Roger Williams.
Valentine Wightman passed on his goodly heritage when he baptized Wait Palmer. Palmer, along with Joshua Morse, ordained the great Shubal Stearns to the Gospel ministry. Stearns would be the catapult in the greatest revival in American history
(the Separate Baptist Revival). 
I was preaching in north central Tennessee recently. Pastor Greg Wilson and I took a trip on this beautiful spring-like day to this historic Baptist site!

just one of the churches he birthed during his ministry.
